Maderotherapy is one of the most sought-after body treatments in recent years — and one of the questions we hear most often at the salon: how much does it cost, and does it actually work? In this guide we answer both, without the marketing spin.
What Is Maderotherapy
Maderotherapy is a hands-on massage technique using wooden tools (rollers, bell-shaped pieces, boards) that originated in Colombia. The therapist uses tools of different shapes to follow the line of the muscles and lymphatic system, with the goal of:
- boosting circulation and lymphatic drainage,
- breaking down fatty tissue deposits and reducing the appearance of cellulite,
- firming and toning the skin and tissue,
- releasing tense muscles with deeper pressure than a classic massage.
Unlike machines, wooden tools let the therapist precisely control pressure zone by zone — which is why maderotherapy remains a hands-on craft, not a mechanical treatment.

How Many Sessions You Need for Results
This is the most important expectation to set realistically: a single session is not enough for a visible change. Maderotherapy works cumulatively — through a series:
- A series of 8–10 sessions, 2–3 times a week, is the standard protocol for cellulite and firming.
- The first effects on circulation and a feeling of lightness in the legs can be noticed after just 2–3 sessions.
- After the series, results are maintained with 1–2 sessions a month.
Results also depend on hydration, diet, and movement — maderotherapy is a booster, not a replacement for healthy habits.
Does Maderotherapy Hurt
The pressure is stronger than in a relaxation massage and can feel uncomfortable in zones with more cellulite, but it should never be painful — the therapist adjusts the intensity to your tolerance. Mild skin redness after the treatment is normal and fades within a few hours. Bruising is not the goal of the treatment; we use a technique specifically designed to avoid it.
Maderotherapy or a Classic Massage — Which to Choose
- Your goal is relaxation and stress relief → relaxation massage (from 35 KM).
- Muscle recovery after training and tension → sports massage.
- Cellulite, circulation, skin firming, lymphatic drainage → maderotherapy.
You'll find a detailed comparison of all massages and prices in our guide to massages in Sarajevo.
Who Should Avoid Maderotherapy
We don't recommend maderotherapy during pregnancy, for acute inflammation or skin infections in the treated area, advanced-stage varicose veins, or blood clotting disorders. If you're not sure, get in touch with us before booking — a consultation costs nothing.
