If you are looking for a massage in Sarajevo, the first question is which type you actually need — and the second is who to book it with. This guide explains the difference between relax, sports, lymphatic and anti-cellulite massage, what each one does, and how to recognise a studio worth walking into.
Straight to the point: as of August 2026, Damen Salon no longer offers classic massages (relax and sports). Our massage therapist has left the team, and we do not sell a service we cannot deliver at the level we used to. What we still do is maderotherapy — a manual body treatment with wooden tools — and facial treatments, which include manual massage of the face, neck and décolleté.
Massage types and who they are for
Relax (classic, Swedish) massage
Light to medium pressure, long strokes, aimed at calming the nervous system. Chosen for stress, poor sleep and general tension — not for a specific injury. Usually 30–60 minutes.
Sports massage
Stronger pressure, worked muscle group by muscle group, typically after training or for chronic tightness in the back and neck. Shorter per zone, but more intense. It is not relaxing — the muscle can stay tender for a day or two.
Lymphatic drainage
Very gentle, rhythmic pressure that follows the lymph flow. Chosen for swollen legs, heaviness and water retention, often after travel or long desk shifts.
Anti-cellulite and body contouring
This is where maderotherapy belongs. The goal is not relaxation but circulation, drainage and skin tightening — done as a course, not as a one-off.
Facial massage
Part of any serious facial: manual massage of the face, neck and décolleté improves circulation and lymphatic drainage, so the skin looks rested afterwards. It is rarely sold as a standalone treatment — and for good reason, since it works best combined with cleansing and serums.
What we do instead of body massage — maderotherapy
Maderotherapy is a manual body treatment using wooden tools. The pressure is stronger than in a relax massage, and the goal is circulation, lymphatic drainage and skin tightening. It makes sense for cellulite, water retention, heavy legs, and contouring the waist and thighs.
| Treatment | Price | Zone |
|---|---|---|
| Maderotherapy legs | 55 KM | legs |
| Maderotherapy stomach and back | 65 KM | stomach, back |
| Maderotherapy full body | 95 KM | full body |
The standard protocol is a course of 8–10 treatments, 2–3 times a week — explained in detail in our guide to maderotherapy in Sarajevo. You can book online in under a minute.
If you were looking for a facial massage — book a facial
Manual facial massage here is part of a facial protocol, not a standalone treatment. Specifically:
| Treatment | Price |
|---|---|
| Diamond microdermabrasion + revitalisation | 60 KM |
| Phytopeeling + ultrasonic cleansing | 70 KM |
| Hydra facial | 85 KM |
See every option and which skin type it suits on the facial treatments in Sarajevo page.
How to choose a massage studio in Sarajevo
If you specifically need a classic or sports massage, look elsewhere — and check this before you book:
- Who performs the treatment. Body massage should be done by someone trained in massage, not added on the side of other services.
- Clear price and duration. 30, 45 or 60 minutes — the price must be tied to the duration, with no add-ons at the till.
- Intake before the first treatment. Injuries, pregnancy, varicose veins and blood pressure issues change the technique or rule it out.
- Hygiene and fresh linen per client. Basic, but visible at first glance.
- Realistic expectations. One treatment does not fix chronic back pain, and a serious studio will tell you so upfront.
FAQ
Does Damen Salon do relax and sports massage?
No. As of August 2026 we no longer do classic massages. For the body we do maderotherapy (from 55 KM), and manual facial massage is part of our facial treatments.
What is the difference between maderotherapy and classic massage?
Classic massage targets muscle relaxation. Maderotherapy with wooden tools targets circulation, lymphatic drainage and skin tightening — it is done as a course and results build up cumulatively.
How much does maderotherapy cost in Sarajevo?
At Damen Salon: legs 55 KM, stomach and back 65 KM, full body 95 KM. Current prices are always in the price list.
Can maderotherapy replace a relax massage?
Partly. If your goal is pure relaxation, it is not a real substitute — the pressure is stronger and the purpose is different. If your goal is drainage, heavy legs and cellulite, it works better than a relax massage.
